In the following pages, you will learn more about the research project “ZwischenSprachen” (“BetweenLanguages”). It was started in July 2016 within the Research Group on Migration and Psychosocial Health (MiPH) at the Department of Medical Psychology of the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf. The project has a duration of two years.

Overview of the objectives and structure of the project

The project’s objective is to develop and disseminate scientifically based quality standards for the qualification of community interpreters working in social consulting and care for refugees.

The research project is subdivided into 4 modules:

Module 1: Programme research

Systematic research on available qualifications for community interpreters in Germany and abroad.

Module 2: Qualitative data collection

Qualitative survey with the involved parties conducted as focus groups and one-to-one interviews.

Module 3: Consensus procedure

Carrying out of a consensus procedure to determine quality standards for the qualification of community interpreters.

Module 4: Dissemination
